Three-Card Draw for Guidance and Inspiration
The Parlour Sibyl
It’s been a while since I’ve posted a daily three-card draw for guidance and inspiration. I usually pull three cards every morning from one or another of the various oracle decks I enjoy working with, but I don’t often get the time to post the results. I haven’t had the chance to post a reading using the Parlour Sibyl yet either, So this morning I decided to pull three cards from The Parlour Sibyl:
8 of Clubs – Dépit (Disappointment) reversed
Queen of Diamonds – Méchante Femme (Wicked Woman)
9 of Diamonds – Contrariété, Déplaisir (Frustration, Displeasure)
The action in a three-card draw moves from left to right, and the center card represents the question or situation at hand. I didn’t ask a specific question when I shuffled and pulled these cards, so in this case the middle card represents the heart of a situation the cards are bringing to my attention.
In the Parlour Sibyl, the Queen of Diamonds represents a wicked woman. The image on the card is almost comical of a red-faced, screaming woman, and an overturned table and chair. This is clearly a very angry lady caught up in a nasty temper tantrum.
The card on the left represents the premise of the matter, or it could also indicate past influences leading up to the current circumstances. Here we find the 8 of Clubs in the reversed position. The image on this card is of a lone woman in a drab frock wearing a sour expression. She is obviously accustomed to a life of disappointments.
The 8 of Clubs represents setbacks, defeat, and disappointments. Reversed cards in the Sibyl often symbolize the act of overcoming or “getting over” whatever is represented by the card in the upright position. This card reversed can also be a warning of possible future problems coming from the same quarter. Falling behind the Wicked Woman, these influences represent the past from her perspective. It seems this woman has left at least one prior jealous rage in her wake that was forgiven, but perhaps not forgotten.
The card falling in the position to the far right, represents future influences. Here we find the 9 of Diamonds, which denotes problems, jealousy, frustrations, and unhappiness. The image on this card shows a woman with a screwed face berating a male companion. She’s clearly displeased with him, and he’s avoiding her gaze by staring off into the distance.
It seems I can expect another episode of grief coming from the Queen of Diamonds, or perhaps she’s still nursing her anger from the previous incident represented by the 8 of Clubs. In either case, the frustration and displeasure would be hers, but the incident shows up in my cards, so I can expect be affected by the woman’s wrath. Also, the queen’s back is turned toward the left, which is the direction facing the seeker. She appears to have turned her back on me in anger, and she’s focused on her own displeasure. I appear to be the cause of her fury. She is undoubtedly angry and frustrated by something I may have said or done.
Yikes! This is not good news. Just what I need now is a crazy lady giving me grief. Actually, I believe I know who these cards are referring to, but because I think she may read my blog, I’m reluctant to say anything more about it.
